Medieval menus —- Wakefield Museum Saturday 17 November 2012, 11am to 3pm
Wakefield Council and You are what you ate have organised an activity drop-in for children and families this November. Come along to have
Medieval winter — Castleford Market, Henry Moore Square Saturday 15 December 2012, 10.00 am to 4.00pm
Join the ‘You are what you ate’ team at Castleford Market for fascinating cookery demonstrations. See some medieval dishes ― some not too different to dishes we enjoy today ― being cooked throughout the day on a raised fire. Watch as recipes that are over 500 years old are prepared and have the opportunity to taste some of the delicious creations. Visit our food display and find out about seasonal foods, medieval customs at Christmas and the importance of healthy eating, past and present. And we’ll be offering children the opportunity to make a medieval spice bag (using mortar and pestle).
You Are What You Ate is a three year project funded by the Wellcome Trust, in partnership with the University of Leeds, Wakefield Council and the University of Bradford. For more information about all our events, visit our website
